Exercise Academy
HealthVantage Fitness Classes brought to different worksites throughout the District.

Convenient and affordable! With our Exercise Academy, employees and spouses can exercise twice a week at a District work site or local facility for a very low fee.

Top exercise instructors have been selected to teach for the Exercise Academy. They are very committed to ensuring that your personal fitness goals are met. Several District sites have been selected to host an on-site exercise program. Employees can register to participate at any site.

Some classes are canceled on Monday, April 1 with a make-up on Monday, May 20. Yogalates at Buffalo Creek is canceled on Tuesday, April 2 with a make-up on Tuesday, May 21.

 Class Descriptions:

Align and Define Yoga: This alignment-based yoga class includes a variety of traditional and modified yoga postures designed to build strength, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Participants learn how to align the body to optimize the physical and mental benefits of yoga practice.

Ballroom Dancing: A great class for couples or individuals wanting to learn Ballroom Dancing steps. This class takes it the next level as basic steps are reviewed and more steps are added. Focus will be given to specific form, more technical aspects of the dances, adn putting the steps all together.

BootCamp in the Park: Exercises include quickly-paced agility moves, heart-pumping cardio drills, fun partner relays, sports conditioning circuits, plyometrics, full-body resistance training, sprints, active group games, and creative exercise challenges. John's class is perfect for current exercisers who want to to increase their strength training and overall conditioning.

Breath and Body: A total body training session offering 25 minutes of standing resistance training, 25 minutes of Pilates based mat work, and 10 minutes of active stretching. The class is mildy aerobic but burns approximately 250 to 300 calories due to the post-session elevation in metabolism. Clients will learn proper form and posture for weight lifting and resistance exercises, learn how to use breath in combination with effort and movement, and learn some great stretching techniques.

Cardio Strength Fusion: This is a "one-stop-shop" fitness class to get your cardio, strength, and mind/body workouts in. The cardio segment will blend traditional low impact aerobics, Zumba, and kickboxing moves. The strength training component allows for everyone to work at their own pace and options are provided to accomodate bad knees, backs, shoulders, and wrists. The final minute of the class blends yoga, Pilates, and relaxation techniques.

FitLorenzo BootCamp: A results oriented training program designed to get you into shape fast. Ed Lorenzo will help you reach your goals with his expertise in sports performance, injury prevention, corrective exercises, physique enhancement, and weight loss. Each week, you'll challenge your body through sport and military drills and a combination of strength, cardiovascular, core and flexibility training.

Hatha Yoga: This yoga class is perfect for the beginner yoga participants. Class will start with a warm up on the floor, move to standing sun salutations, and return to the floor for more poses. Class ends with a quiet, relaxing, meditation moment. The flowing movement and breath is sure to help improve your physical and mental health.

Pilates Flow: This class used Pilates mat work and small balls and rings as tools to help focus on core strength. Pilates is mostly about the movement and position of the spine - flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flextion while you move your arms and legs in controlled positions.

Sculpt+Strength+Cardio: Shape and Tone your body with this total body workout. This no-nonsense strength training class is for men and women who want to get stronger, look better, and feel healthier. It is a heart pumping class that is sure to burn calories and shoot your energy through the roof! Challenge yourself with core, upper, and lower body conditioning while stimulating your metabolism with cardio and muscle toning. Laura's class incorporates interval training, circuits, partner workouts, muscle toning, and fun fitness games so you will never get bored!

Spin: Great for all skill levels! This high energy ride will torch calories, reduce stress, increase cardiovascular fitness, and strengthen/tone your legs. Classes include flats, sprints, combos, and hills while changing resistance and cadence to match the music and terrain.

Splash-n-Strength: This water aerobics class combines a little bit of everything: cardio moves, strength training, core work, and range of motion. This can be a challenging class but the instructor is trained in rehab and corrective exercise techniques so you'll be able to get specific solutions to your problem areas. 

Tennis for Life: Never picked up a racket? Not a problem! This class covers basic tennis skills, scoring, and game play. The seasoned players will focus on skill developement and advanced tactics. You'll improve your cardiovascular conditioning, overall well-being, and enhance motor skills in a relaxed social setting.

Yogalates: A blend of yoga and Pilates into one class to build strength and gain flexibility. You will experience the lengthening and stretching aspects of yoga along with mat work adopted from Pilates that will challenge your gluts and abs. It's about energy, core strength, and stability. Each class will end with relaxation to release tension and allow your body to slow down and let go.

Zumba: An exhilerating, Latin-inspired, carlorie burning dance fitness party. You will burn lots of calories as you learn salsa, merengue, cha-cha, regeton, bachata, and more. This is a fun, effective workout regardless of your dance and fitness background.

Zumba Toning: This class combines targeted body-sculpting exercises to great latin music. Your metabolism will increase and your body will feel the results of this class as you build lean muscle and take off extra weight.

Zumba Total Fitness: Start off with 30 minutes of Zumba! The moves are set to such great music that you won't even know you are working out. No dance experience is needed. The last 30 minutes blends traditional strength training with yoga and Pilates with the final few minutes put aside for relaxation. Modifications will be provided for those who have knee, back, shoulder, etc injurites. Sharon's class will sculpt your body from head-to-toe.
